Easter Sunday Dinner

Happy Easter at the Kerestes Home! Today was a very special day because not only was it Easter but also General Conference where we get to listen to special messages from our Prophet Apostles, and many other special people. In between the two session we ate our Easter Dinner with the Missionaries. We enjoyed having them over!

We even did the Easter Story in eggs and passed them around the kitchen table. Inside each egg was a symbol and story of our Savior! There was no better way to celebrate Easter than listening to conference so we really enjoyed this special day!

This past fall Kody, Kamde, and I planted tulips because they are our favorite for Spring and Easter!

Easter Bunny Hunt

Jamestown Easter Hunt

After we dyed our eggs Saturday morning we went to Jamestown Easter Egg Hunt and Kallee missed gymnastics so she could come with us. She didn't want to miss the hunt because she knows she is almost to old to go on the hunt! She told us that the last age is 12 and so she really needed to make sure she got in as many as possible before it was to late. We agreed so she came! We all had a blast!

I am sure people thought we were crazy letting our son walk around with no shoes but we didn't want to go back home or the kids would of missed the egg hunt! He didn't seem to mind so that's all that matters!

They even had a free train ride that followed the lake! The boys loved it and wanted to go again but Mom and Dad didn't want to wait in the 45 minute line again!

Easter Eggs

Our family woke up early Saturday morning and dyed eggs. We love to do this as a family and yes Kallee even did it with us but didn't want a picture because she was still in her PJ's. Kallee did her eggs in Percy Jackson theme. Kyle took his time with using all the pretty colors. Kody made sure each egg soaked a long time because he wanted to color bright. Kamden helped mom do her eggs with his favorite color of orange. He did 2 dozen. Dad likes to do something new every year so he peeled his first then dyed them. They turned out cool and Mom made potato salad with them. They still tasted the same but cool.

One of our favorite parts about High Point is all the parks, ponds, rivers, and lakes. It is great! Having fun after eating Breakfast with the Easter Bunny!
Now that Kamden is 2 he loves going to the park to play because he is big enough to climb and go down the slides!

Kallee and Kyle had Spring Break this week so we went to a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, made crafts, and afterwards played at the park.

The night of the tornado

On Sunday evening March 28, 2010 our family didn't even know we were under tornado warning and how bad it was. Mike and I were surfing for used cars on the internet while our kids were watching Harry Potter the movie. After the movie was over Mike wanted to see the score for the Final Four on Basketball. Well, to his surprise instead of seeing the score he saw the tornado warning. He quickly told me and put us all in the hallway away from windows infront of our half bathroom. We gathered flashlights, pillows, and blankets for the kids. He put a movie on his work laptop, said a prayer, and all snuggle together for the next couple of hours.

We even looked outside but didn't think it was to bad. We have been in worst storms before. It was heavy rain and a little wind. But we weren't to nervous because we thought they always say this and usually everything is just fine. But WOW! We were sure humble and learned a BIG lesson from this. The warning is true and is meant to be followed. You never know but it is always better to be safe.

The first tornado came through and we thought it was over. We started to get our kids ready for scripture time and bedtime when we were put back on tornado warning. So we all decided to sleep in our little hallway together as a family. If we needed to we would go into our half bathroom. We don't have a basement which not many houses do.

We would keep checking the news and we did hear it came through and hit the neighborhood down the street from us. But we didn't know how bad until the next day. Then it really touched home. We were so blessed as a family but we will continue to pray for all the many homes and businesses that were affected.

We have learned now that we do get tornado's here and last year one touched down about 3 miles from our house. So we will have to be careful and always be prepared. We have lived here for about 6 months and didn't know how severe it is. We wished they had sirens here to warn us but we will have to invest in a weather radio.

We went for a family drive after the tornado the next day. A lot of the streets were blocked off from traffic but A LOT of homes looked like this one with the big BLUE TARP on top. We are not sure how many home were affected but we know a lot had to be. We saw many house without roofs and missing shingles.

We have only seen these pictures on the NEWS but never in real life. It is a horrible feeling and you feel so bad for all those who were affected. But it really puts things into perspective and we are SUPER glad for the gospel. We tried to explain to the kids how everything that was damaged is worldly items and not eternal items.What a miracle that no one was majorly injured or even lost life. How important it is to hold to the rod and make right choices because eventually all our worldly possessions will stay behind and we will only be able to take with us who we are and what we have become. Our families goal is to all make it back to our eternal father so we will be together forever.

This neighborhood is about a mile away from ours. This house was hit hard. I just drove by it today and it is no longer there. They are tearing it down completly and all the rumage is just about gone. They will soon start to rebuild it for the family so they can get back into the routine of a normal life. For now they are staying in a hotel and eating out. Our prayers are with you and we are sorry.

Tornado in High Point, NC

Sunday evening's tornado March 28th, 2010 that came through High Point, NC The tornado that came through High Point and only about a mile from our house really did a lot of damage. Our hearts go out to all who lost their homes and possessions. We are so sorry but we know we had a miracle because no one lost their life from this tornado which is absolutely amazing. Our family and our house was very blessed.
This daycare center is across the street from Kallee's Gymnastic Gym! Talk about scary and we are so glad it happened Sunday evening so no one was in the building at the time!

After having the Chevy Cavalier for almost 12 years with over 210,000 miles it was time to let it go. We haven't put much into it but now things are starting to go which would make it more than what the car is worth. But Mike is going to miss this car because it has been the best car taking him many miles to work, picking Kallee up every night from gymnastics, and all the other places. We are so thankful the car did so good and we will start praying that the new one can do just as good. It does have big tires to feel after this one!
